Tinsel

We called them icicles and hung them on the tree Silver threads of shiny tinsel came in plastic packs of three An accent for colorful lights and balls making any Christmas tree sparkle Even Charlie Brown’s sad tree needed some silver tinsel on it Today at d’Verse, Mish asked us to write a 44 word … Continue reading Tinsel

Allow all my wordsto pour like strong rain, choke on my tears, swallow the pain. Anguish and sorrowshide deeply inside, nowhere to run,no place to hide. A huge painted smile, pretend feels okay.Sun covered clouds, lights fill the grays. Loud echoing cry, releases the fake, speak what I feel,my turn to take. As all words spill out, each one becomes real.Clear blurry lines,no … Continue reading Unload

The Investigators, Inc. Sleepy Town Mystery. Chapter 13, Danger At Home.

That gives us 10 days to prepare and get there, but can we do it? “What do you think everyone?”, I ask my team. “This might be our only chance to stop him Steve,” said Annelie. “I agree Steve,” said Rock. All of them agreed, even Kristina was ready to go. I was the only … Continue reading The Investigators, Inc. Sleepy Town Mystery. Chapter 13, Danger At Home.

One Sweet Day

Tricia Sankey

Photo by Hernan Pauccara on Pexels.com

Sunbeams tickle the deep
and a whole new world
erupts in vivid color

One sweet day
we’ll pass through
shimmering sky
casting off

dark shadows
and lonely soliloquy –

we’ll soar above
saltwater memories
and float on waves
of endless light.

Today, Lillian hosts at dVerse, and asks us to include a title from a song or two in our poems. We can select the songs from #1 hits on our birthday by clicking on this Birthday Hitswebsite.I picked, “A Whole New World” by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle and “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey.

I am also writing this poem as a tribute to my mother-in-law, Linda Sankey, who passed recently from Covid-19. We will all be together again one sweet day! 💓

Do I need a title?

Tricia Sankey

A stranger instructs
three breaths, and as clarity climbs
with barely a beat, I’m gone

out of body
in the mists

Is time a song on repeat?

For 30 minutes I float
in riddles

Who am I?
I cannot fathom

a hidden chorus
knows only
what it’s not

It’s Open Link Night atdVerse, so I’m expanding a little on a twitter poem I published recently. I love clearing my mind with singing bowls and hope you enjoy the link!

The Night Wore Heels

Tricia Sankey

The night wore heels,
a happy dance of leaves
reveling on warm winds,
we ignored the morse code
of constellations far away,
predicting mourning in the morn,
their silly plots to trap the sun,
never arise,
you’ll see…

the dawn forever breaks free.
