Good morning everyone,

Respected teachers, dear parents, and my beloved friends,

Today, I am very happy to speak a few words about Onam, the most popular and joyful festival of Kerala.

Onam is a harvest festival celebrated by people of Kerala with great happiness and togetherness. It reminds us of the beautiful story of King Mahabali, who was loved by his people because he was kind, generous, and fair to everyone.

According to the traditional story, King Mahabali returns to Kerala during Onam to see his people. That is why we welcome him with beautiful Pookkalams, new clothes, delicious food, and happy celebrations.

Onam is also a festival of unity. People from different religions and communities celebrate it together. We make colourful flower decorations, enjoy the Onam Sadya, take part in games and cultural programmes, and exchange greetings with one another.

The most important message of Onam is love, equality, kindness, and sharing. As children, we can celebrate Onam by being kind to our friends, helping those in need, respecting everyone, and sharing our happiness with others.

Let us make this Onam special not only with flowers and celebrations, but also with good hearts and good deeds.
